PUTTING TOGETHER A DINING ROOM

I think I mentioned I am mid stream in all my projects and I am not kidding.....

Last week I was working on a dining room and it should be a slam dunk.  White walls.....no furniture.....a blank slate!  That sounds easy but the possibilities are endless.

Since the room is square we are going with a round 72" table which was recently purchased.

There was no way to raise the ceiling but were able to put in this cove and we covered it in wallpaper to highlight the beautiful Circa Lighting chandelier.

I don't have a full picture of the table but here a picture of the top.

There is a small problema.....square room.... round table....so a rectangular rug is "no bueno". Which means a custom size.  [Whispered cuss words]

Y'all just so you don't think this is all a slam dunk in decision making...... this room took a lot of thought and research!

I started with chairs.....I always go with easy first.

After measuring all of them for height and width a few were eliminated.  We decided that a taller chair would actually work better for the room.

We were leaning towards the last one [the only one we could completely customize] with perhaps a dark ebony finish and a cool fabric. Maybe add some nail heads for a little glitz.

Because of this large 4ft x 6ft art that is going on the only wall without a door or opening...

I opted for some gray silk curtains with gold hardware for the set of french doors.

There is not much prettier than gray and white in my opinion....

Now the hard part.

The rug.

So before I put together the plans I was still thinking that a 10 x 12 would work [I can be stubborn like that] but after I was there and we drilled down on the measurements we came to the conclusion that it would in fact need to be a custom 12 x 12.

Rats.

So these next design boards belong in the trash.....

BUT.....it sure was fun. All rugs came from Loloi

And there you have it.....I'm on the hunt to find the perfect rug so I will keep you updated!

I went to a little get together the other night and brought the snacks so I put together my version of the "poo poo" platter:)

If you look closely you are going to see some friends hanging around

Josh was determined to drink my wine.....

Some answers to questions on the before and after.  The fabric for the pillows on the couch is Sarah Richardson for Kravet.  The other pillows came from Target and the lumbar pillow from Homegoods.  The rug came from Myers Carpet here in Atlanta.

There was also a question about Lee Industries furniture.  It is sold in many retail stores so I am sure you can go on their website to get a list of local places.

And that's a wrap guys!

PILLOWS AND A LITTLE MORE

This post is like my life only in pillow updates:)  I can't really explain how this happens but it seems like pillows are always on my mind.

I assume this is my drug.

My back alley is HomeGoods and pillows are the crack.

Sometimes I have the budget to do custom and other times I dive right into cheap thrills.

In this project that I have been working on for a while we we able to do some pretty custom fabricated by my girl Sudi.

Some nice neutral going on here [surprise] with these sectional pillows.

It all started with this Zak and Fox windowpane fabric.  Next I added the Peter Dunham paisley and threw in a little texture from Kravet.

Of course we need some art on that wall desperately!

I found this marble bowl at HG's and added some beads in it for the coffee table.
In my opinion there is nothing some beads in a bowl won't answer:)

Over in the bedroom we have some pretty Schumacher Ikat and Kravet linen stripe.

And I found this pretty cotton towel for the bathroom....

Now we take it down a notch.....when I am in Target I kind of takeover.

I will gather up all the goodies...find an isle and go to town.  These are for a staging project which I will go into more about later.

I also saw this cutie at Target

2 girls rooms.....these from HG's

Headed over to Bed Bath and Beyond.

Right?  I totally forget about them for pillows but their game is a lot better!  These all had down inserts.

Speaking of BB&B I picked up this pretty wood bowl to go with these black Ikat napkins and iron serving pieces [from Crate and Barrel]!

For me:)

Changing things around at my house by adding some indigo!

And Sudi [who makes pillows for the stars] but had almost NO PILLOWS in her house....well we changed that with some new bedroom pillows.

Pretty huh?

And having absolutely nothing to do with pillows.....everyday I look at my kitchen and these brackets I fall in love all over again:)

Oh yeah one more thing.

There is a war going on over at my house.

It has to do with the thermostat.  I'm living here in "motel hot".  The other day I came in.....it was 75 outside and my husband had the heat on at 71.  To make a point that he is cold he will put on his sweatshirt....pull the hood up while sitting in his office or watching TV.

Go ahead and put on gloves.....I'm not moved.

THIS AND THAT

I'm probably going to be all over the place today....projects half finished.....or just starting.

Yesterday I was ADAC ordering 8 different fabrics for 3 different clients and it was crazy.  I would order one and then start ordering others....get an email saying that there was no stock for over a month on one I just ordered.....run back up 5 flights of stairs to ask "how much do they have?" and when she said "only 2 yards" I said "I'll take it and make it work!" Or Sudi will right:)

One backordered fabric can set the whole ball rolling to calamity.....for a designer anyway:)

Enough complaining about trivial design problems and on to updates!

This office is coming together with the arrival of this Bernhardt desk

Still working on a rug and chair.....

Found this cutie for her powder room on Charish!

And this one for her kitchen....

 The backsplash was finally installed...

The mudroom light from Currey and Co

Started a guest bedroom with these Pottery Barn sheets....

And this rug from Lowe's!

Speaking of Pottery Barn.....love this canvas container.

Moving to the Madison project....ordered this beautiful Barbara Barry fabric from Kravet for pillows in the master bedroom.

Made a trip up there on Tuesday to finally start putting the place back together after all the painting!
All Ikea bedding on the old army cots which we painted SW Iron Ore!

A week in my life.  Gotta stay focused people.

This post I can safely say Happy Weekend.....as on Tuesday I somehow got confused:)

Hee Haw.
