My trip to Boulder was short and sweet!  I really love that little city and would move there but dang housing is so expensive!  

This little number was a million dollars and trust me...... it needs at lot of work. 

I have lot's of ideas for this small bi-level or as I like to call them....the dreaded split foyer.   This house style was very popular in the early 70's with a small entrance where you go up to the kitchen, living room and bedrooms and down to laundry room and family room.  

In this house the master bath and bedroom is tiny....tiny....tiny!  Short of lining the bathroom with diamonds....I am scratching my head to figure out what to do!

As you can see when you step out of the shower you are smack dab on the toilet.....

Needless to say I've got some research to do :)

It's no secret that I am a fan of American made furniture company Lee Industries.  I wanted to share this sectional style with you because I am so in love with it!

My friend bought a new house about a year ago....every room was painted a different color....

Here is what it looked like when she bought it.....

Just painting it white [ BM White Dove] made a huge difference!  But her furniture never looked right in the space [the couch was slightly too big] so it was time to update this room a little more!

Here was the furniture in her old house....fit so much better......

So we got to work.....

That shelf space where the "technology" lives is getting a paneled door to blend in..... 

You can see we added some shiplap, sconces, and painted the windows dark!  

This is my favorite sectional style from Lee.

We opted not to do the chaise..... but 2 sofa's and I also used a Crypton Fabric because she has a rotten little dog Tipper [who just happens to be Cami's BFF!]

  

The fabric we used was Duke Pumice

Since we did not have a place for lighting...especially when it backs up to a wall....the Circa Lighting sconces were the best alternative.

Also note the top stitching....another reason to love this modern feature.

We picked up that boat painting at a flea market and I love how simple it is.....

One of my favorite aspects of this sofa style is the low profile arm.  It means so much more seating space is available!

I will be sure to share with you when it's finished  and loaded with pillows and accessories!

LADISIC FINE HOMES

Y'all I went to get an updated headshot the other day.....and I have to say it was right up there with trying on bathing suits. 

It's one thing to look in the mirror everyday and pretend that you still look 40 and a complete reality check to see your face right there on the big screen in all it's "oldness".......

So I went to this guy and he was good and all but when I was looking at them I felt like I looked like a "banker" [no offense to bankers] but that is just not me.  

I then called a friend of mine Tina Rowden [cause she used to do a lot of weddings and I thought she would be able to make me look like Cindy Crawford]  and she definitely captured my personality but still....why can't I just use the one I had taken 10 years ago....

A few weekends ago my friend Michael Ladisic was having a breakfast at his house for the Shutze winners.

I was there all day on Saturday zhushing that puppy up!

You remember this one right?  Yeah I like to pretend it's my house when I'm there....but of course there is that one small problem.....of his wife :)

The committee had beautiful flowers everywhere!

If you remember they have 4 girls.....this is her closet where I hung all the family pictures!

Every pillow was perfect and all throws were casually thrown in their places as if they are always that way:)

Then it was over and I had to go back to my little cottage.....

And....the very best thing that happened to me all week is this....

My nephew and his wife had a baby.  I can't look at this picture without crying.....he lived with me for 3 years while in collage and I am so proud of the man he has become.

PROJECT DESIGN: EASY STEPS TO STYLE YOUR SHELVES

I'm coming in hot here y'all.....trying to squeak this post out before the deadline! 

Today along with Mary Ann from Classic Casual Home, Kris from Driven By Decor, Annie from Most Lovely Things, and Cindy from Rough Luxe  are getting down and dirty about an issue that I think all of you might be interested in!

I don't think it's any big secret that styling bookshelves can cause anxiety.... trying to get the perfectly curated "undecorated"....like "I just threw this stuff together" look can break even the best of us!

Oh I know we make it seem like it's easy and when I took everything off mine the other day to prepare for this post you can believe I took a quick snapshot in case the "styling well" ran dry.

It's all good and I think I might even leave them like this for a hot minute.

Let's start from the beginning.....

Before

This was over a year and a half ago....and I gotta tell you....I was pretty happy with how "minimal" they looked.

But I decided that you guys want to see how it's done....my theory behind the scenes....of how I get started.

Before......

My bookshelves are "fixed"....I can't adjust them.  Would I change that.....maybe but I really don't like all the small holes on the side so that's the trade off!

 

I cleared these babies and it was definitely a good time to dust also!  Whew.  Possibly phase one of "project spring clean".....ha ha.

Then I just started playing....but wasn't having too much luck.

But I kept at it....meaning I walked around aimlessly putting off what I KNEW had to happen.

And after about 20 minutes I started feeling OK....

The top shelf has a cool black and white vase that I scored at Target last year....On the second shelf... both vases are from Target and I threw a green faux succulent in one of them [Pottery Barn].

I think for me....I like to add some vintage objects so it doesn't look like I just filled up my cart at HomeGoods.....you know?  Believe me....I scoured my house looking for things.....

The wood shelf was found in the bath section at HomeGoods....thinking outside the box a little.....and the art was from West Elm painted by Steve McKenzie.

I kind of left the top shelf very minimal.....

Second side......

Before

Keeping mostly with black, white and some wood tones....

I wanted to mix it up a little so I moved the wood beads to this side.....

Again I like to add some greenery and try to find some that looks as real as I can....not always easy!

For the top shelf on the left....the vase was from World Market [bought last year]....dried flowers from an arrangement and some wood beads just curled up.  I needed a small black painting so I did it myself:)

Tribal basket with faux plant in it....again put things into things:)  I also added another small painting from West Elm by Steve McKenzie.

Remember....layering from behind with a small piece of art....or a book....or a sea fan....just something that will give it dimension.
