DECORATING WITH MIRRORS

So the last few times I have been to the beach it has been cold....cold and rainy.....or rainy.  You might want to check with me before you head down there because if I'm going.....expect the worst:)

Still it was a nice change of scenery.... only now I am scrambling to get everything done before I head off to Boulder for 36 hours.....

Crikey.

Talking about mirrors today and how they can brighten up a space.  I think it's safe to say that when decorating a room we have choices of hanging art.....a mirror or something architectural on walls.

I love a pretty gold mirror shown here in my house  [from a flea market] and below [Bernhardt Interiors] when I helped with the House Beautiful Kitchen of the Year.

Bathrooms are a great place to add a bold statement with a mirror.

A few years ago I added this Target mirror over a chest in a bedroom makeover.  Similar here

This Currey and Company beveled antique mirror is a current favorite.

Probably the best use of a mirror is to mimic a window when there isn't one...which I did in a family room below with this Ballard beauty!

Well in Atlanta we have the Junior League Kitchen Tour and one of my favorite art galleries Gregg Irby Gallery is having a group show Friday night called Sacred Places....landscape paintings through the lens of 7 different artist!

I hope spring is just around the corner for everyone....

BEFORE AND AFTER

News flash....we are finally having fall weather in Atlanta.  Whew I was worried for a while.  

Before we get right into it I am so excited to share this news with you.  My nephew [Taylor] and his wife are having a baby.  If you have been reading my blog for a while.....you might remember he lived with me for 3 years while he went to Georgia Tech and when he moved out it was a very dark day.

I don't know how you Mom's do it....let your kids go...... cause it sure didn't sit well with me.

Anyway I also decorated his apartment here in Atlanta....

And then he moved back to Chicago to marry the girl of his dreams.

Are they the cutest!

Now he is looking for houses in Glen Ellyn a suburb outside of Chicago.  If you know of a good one let me know:)

He keeps sending me listings....and what is so funny is that because I am in the profession of design and can be a little judgmental about the subject I have to laugh at some of the decorating!  Lord.....it's crazy!  I see some trips to Chicago for some renovating and decorating in the future:)

I posted a while back about which art piece to buy for this project....and you chose this one.  Only problem was it was going to take too long to get so I had my friend Kristin paint it!  And just so you know....it was a reproduction so now she has an original!

We installed shiplap half way up and added some Thibaut wallpaper.

There was a lot of wood in this space so the sideboard was painted.

Added some texture with the Ballard rattan chairs.

 This art was a wedding gift and it worked nicely with the room.

 I used the wood charger for some more texture under this orchid.

 Light and bright now!

 Perfect space for a young family as this is their main dining area....so it gets used everyday.

Y'all I need one more day to add to this week to get everything done!  2 Wednesdays would work:)

I hope you guys had a relaxing holiday break.....3 day weekends need to be the norm right:)

I don't have much today....seems like I am in the middle of all my projects with half finished shots but I will share....cause I am that desperate :)

Speaking of desperate....I totally need to get a keratin treatment as this rain has reminded me I was not blessed with smooth beautiful hair.

This gorgeous art was purchased from Huff Harrington Home by artist Judith Williams.  You can see that Thibaut wallpaper swatch which is coming next!

What do ya'll have going on this summer?  We are planning a trip to Chicago to visit some family including my husbands 98 year old Dad!  

Longevity runs in his family but not on my side:( He will probably have time to marry a trophy wife when I bite the dust early.....hee haw.
