GET THE LOOK

Last night I made the long trek to the Serenbe Designer Showhouse [it's showhouse city around here] and Lordy it did not disappoint!

I took a gazillion pictures which all have to be downloaded from my phone and straightened so hopefully I can share them on Tuesday.  Y'all there was quite a bit of black and white so you know I was just plain giddy:)

Since I can't stop thinking about this bedroom from the Cashiers showhouse I thought I would pull together some items so you can get the look!

Here is the thing...... this look.....it's full of texture and very tonal.

lamp this lamp from Crate and Barrel is perfect!

All you need are some tree branches!

So the bed.....get some reclaimed wood and put it on the ceiling:)

I found this at Home Depot

The look....

Adding the metal [mirror] wood [bed] and the chunky rug help to give this space plenty of texture....

I kind of want to do this room somewhere:)

Here are a few other pillows I found to help you out....

One last thing....I was at Rejuvenation yesterday to pick up these brackets

And saw this green couch!
Swoon......

What's up for you this weekend?

I might go to the Lakewood flea market or clean out my guest bedroom [which is full of stuff that I don't know what to do with] [probably not though].

Maybe try and figure out why nothing I put on Poshmark has sold when everyone said it was so easy.....

Or....maybe I will just love on Cami all weekend:)
God....that face just melts me.

It's been a busy weekend....the mart was open and I'm on overload with all the new product that is out there.

Cami had diarrhea so I had to make a batch of rice, turkey and veggies to try and get that situation under control.....

A few of you wanted to know where to get the dog fabric that I used for the curtains and pillow in the last post.

I'm gonna let you in on that secret....

But then I took it another step....cause....well I am here for you guys in such a big way:)

Except this one was for me.....Sheepies and coffee are 2 of my favorite things:)

I found these on Spoonflower!

Could you die!

My sister has a schnauzer!

For you cat lovers.....

There....next time you get upset with me cause I cuss or start defending faux flowers think back to this post and how I appealed to your softer side!

Next up is this designer I found on Instagram....and I think you will agree when I say she gets me.

Um......Cynthia Hayes
This project is crazy good!

I love every single detail....white check....black check......texture check.....BOOM!

I can't believe how much I love this backsplash.....

Do you agree?

Sofa Pillow Options- Need YOUR Vote!

Hello Hello! Can you believe this is the third week in a row that I posted something!? (Yeah...me neither considering some crabby babies over here. )
Anyhoo...I had a birthday a couple of weeks ago and my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I told him to not buy me anything, that I wanted to pick out some pillow covers for the couch! So I am in need of a little help from all of you.

I bought this floral fabric when we were in Williamsburg last year. I know it isn't quite fall-ish, but I really love the colors and think it will help me steer the living room in the direction I want to go. The picture below reads more red than it really is in person. The background is more of a coral color.

My mother-in law was nice enough to sew the pillows for me since I would have to clean off an inch of dust off of my sewing machine. Haven't seen that sweet girl in months! The pillows below are my inspiration:

I am loving the contrast between the dark piping and the light neutral back. There are so many colors to pull from in this pillow that I am having a hard time deciding on a pillow combination for the couch.

I currently have two large pillows on my gray sectional. I wrote about simplicity a while back and this post was my inspiration for why I chose only TWO pillows

Well after a few years of loving on these pillows it is time for a change! Take a look at my five options below and let me know what you all think!

I have to admit this one is a favorite of mine. I like the modern against the traditional. I feel as though my house is a bit like this combination. I have a mix of traditional family pieces as well as modern fixtures and lines within my home.

Goldenrod Square Key PillowTeal Velvet Pillow
I get a more traditional vibe from the pillows above. The velvet lumbar adds a bit of texture as well as the pattern play between the other two.

Citron Velvet PillowDalmatian Print Pillow
This combination is a bit more modern. I love the dalmatian print against the floral. It really kicks the wow factor up a notch!

Gray & White Pattern PillowGoldenrod Square Key Pillow
Pattern, Pattern Pattern! This combination is also fun, but not sure I can pull it off!

Gray & White Pillow, Teal Velvet Pillow, Goldenrod Square Key PillowDalmatian print pillow
This last option has a mix of all the pillows to create a bit of interest. I do love this look and could really use a mix against the sectional.

Okay...your turn! Which option is your favorite OR do you have another combination you think might wow me? Give me your best shot!

A Plan {Our Twin Nursery}

I will be 25 weeks pregnant tomorrow! Yahoo! Getting closer to meeting my babies. While counting down the days gets me excited, I am also a bit anxious when I think about getting everything done before their arrival. Especially because twins are known to come early. Yikes!
So we have been in the works cleaning, purging, organizing...you know, full nesting mode! I think I am wearing John down already and little does he know we still have so much left to do. Buckle up Hubs!

A while back I shared with you the previous floor plan of our tiny nursery. It was used for an extra guest room. Well at only 11'x10' we have had to be very creative when trying to fit TWO cribs, a dresser, glider and storage into this precious space.

Here is the layout we are hoping for:

It will be a bit cramped, but the sweet babies aren't going to care! We have really tried to create as much storage as possible with slide out drawers under the cribs, a six drawer dresser and two hanging bars for clothes in the closet. We are also re-doing one of our downstairs utility closets to create more storage for the big stuff that babies need like bouncers, bumbos, playmats, etc.

I want this room to feel calming with just little touches of color here and there. The walls are painted Shoji White by Sherwin Williams and the ceiling is Amazing Gray by Sherwin Williams. I really love the color palette that is going on so far!

Here are my design plans for the Twin's Neutral Nursery:

1. Round Mirror- I love this one, but have found a much cheaper version at Ikea that I think I am going to go with. There is so much white in the room that I wanted to add touches of gold to make the room feel a bit more sophisticated and put together.
2. Yellow Lamp- I needed a little pop of color and found a similar lamp at HomeGoods a while back. Its quite adorable.
3. Etsy Artwork- I love the balloons over the city as well as the merry-go round in Paris for a bit of whimsy.
4. Mid Century Dresser- I found an almost identical dresser to the West Elm one at a local antique/consignment shop. It is perfect and I can't wait to get it into the space!
5.Naps Fix Everything- Again I love supporting small business and Etsy is a great place to find artwork.
6. Floor Lamp- I am thinking that since I don't have a lot of room for a side table next to the glider, that I am in need of a floor lamp to give me the space I need.
7. Side Table- this Nate Berkus table just took to our local Target stores and I am thinking this is just what I need next to the glider.
8. Glider/Rocker- this glider is almost identical to one I found for around $200 at HomeGoods a couple of months ago. Such a steal and so so comfortable.
9. Pouf- I am in need of a pouf or ottoman to place my feet while rocking and feeding. I liked the pattern and colors in the one above. Target to save the day again!
10. Striped Fabric- this striped fabric will be used on the roman shade as well as the crib skirts. You can't go wrong with stripes in any room!

1. Pendant Light Fixture- This light has already been hung and is currently at an amazing price! You can see the lighting details in the nursery here.
2. Floating Shelves- I am so excited about my Lucite shelves that are going to be hung on the wall near the glider to organize books.
3. Color Scheme- These pillows that use to be on the guest bed have become my color inspiration. Yellow, Gray, Navy, Turquoise & a Flamingo Pink!
4. Bright Lab Lights- I love the looks of these string of lights. I think they would add a bit of fun to the room and come in such a variety of colors. This strand has white, gold, pink, coral, indigo and turquoise. I think the colors would be perfect!
5 & 6. Unexpected Artwork- I have been in love with Ricardo Solis art for quite sometime. I am so so excited that these prints should be here sometime later this week. I ordered 11x14 prints for above each crib. Can't wait to share a bit more about this artist in a couple of weeks.
7. Throw Rug- Even though the room has wall to wall carpeting, I am thinking a small rug would add another element to the room. Maybe even a possible sheep hide for near the dresser/changing table.
8. Baby Mod Crib {x2}- I absolutely love these cribs! We have just started setting them up and I dig the low profile and space that they save in our small room. They also have a drawer that pulls out underneath for storage. Perfection! And...can you believe they are from Walmart!?

So what do you think? Even though the room has to be fairly gender neutral since a boy and girl will be sharing the space, I have added some feminine and some masculine touches that I think will be perfect!

If you want to follow along with bits and pieces of the nursery as I add furniture and accessories to the space, head on over to Instagram! I am hoping to be able to share a tour of the room in just a few weeks. Wish me luck!

Abstract Artwork for Less {Sources}

Some of you may remember this design board I did for a reader's redesign back in March:

I received a lot of great feedback as well as reader's wanting to know the source for the abstract art above the couch. I love how art can pull all the colors of a room together to make it feel cohesive. Sometimes I find a piece of art that inspires a whole room design.
The artwork above the couch is an abstract piece from John-Richard for Horchow. The piece is called "The Camaraderie". The list price is $1250 and is currently on sale for $875.

Now most of us are not in the market for buying such expensive pieces of art, but would like similar abstracts that can bring in color and impact into our homes.

Here are a few sites that have similar pieces for a lot less!

Aren't they all fabulous? This is only a small glimpse of some of my favorite Abstract artists for less. I am sure you could find many more on Etsy or even search for some on pinterest.

So tell me...are you an abstract art lover or more of a portrait art lover?
