Wall Makeover On A Budget

Walls in my home are my blank canvases. Every now and then I just love to paint them in colors of my imagination. Like I said earlier, for me decorating isn't about how much money I spend to bring in class and elegance but it's more about how beautifully and effortlessly I am able to use my creativity, use what I already have and make my home reflect my personality.

When it comes to decorating, I just love to do everything myself that gives me immense satisfaction and joy that it brings is incomparable. So below is the video of my recent wall makeover project, please watch and let me know your views.

This wall was in a bad shape and desperately needed my attention. Bohemian and African decor was on my mind since long so I tried to mix both the styles and totally loved the outcome.

As you can see the wall makeover is doable and easy on the pocket too. All the rope baskets are handmade and bamboo basket and fan give such an authentic African flavour to the decor.
Bohemian decor is all about mixing and matching the colors, patterns and textures and that's what I love to do when it comes to home decor.

Dried Branch Dining Table Centerpiece:
I love it when things are done differently and with some personal touches. And rather than indulging in splurge I love to make things my own. That's what I did when I threw a party at home. I created a beautiful dining table centerpiece that looked totally festive. I saw this beautiful string light somewhere and when I found it online I ordered it without the second thought. It is so so awesome that I am using it in almost all my Diwali vignettes. The best thing is that it is LED string light that comes in various lengths and it is waterproof so you can use it outside in the garden, in aquarium and in urn too. If you are intrigued then click here to see and buy this string light. Instructions to use it are given in video and below is the image.

Dining Room Makeover With Wall Art 3D Wall Panels

I had been planning to give a makeover to my dining area since a long time.
Though I love how airy and bright this space is but I really don't like how it lacks the interest. A few days ago I even asked for suggestions on my Instagram and got really wonderful replies and I thank each one of you for giving some interesting ideas. But this time I wanted something contemporary because I love to blend different decorating styles especially traditional Indian style with a modern twist.

3D Wall Panels

That's when I got an e-mail from the Netherlands based brand called Wall Art and I was super excited to know that the brand offers a collection of 3D wall panels made of natural fibres. The panels are available in more than 24 designs that vary from industrial to romantic and modern. That's what I was looking for. Something that can add extra dimensions to the wall in my dining area and gives a contemporary feel to the space.Watch the video below to know how I transformed my dull and boring dining room into a spectacular and visually appealing space.

These panels are so versatile and other than installing them on an entire wall you can do so much with these panels. Paint them in the desired color or just use them as accent pieces on the wall. These can also be used as a wall art, paint the panels in two or more colors and put them up on the wall as art pieces. Install then on the wall and fix LED wall sconces or tealights in the centre of each panel to create a stunning ambience.
Wall Art 3D panels are 100% natural (made of sugarcane fibres), eco-friendly, lightweight and super easy to install. You can install them yourself like I did. You'll be glad to know that these panels are scratch resistant and give a lustrous finish to any wall. You can check out some before and after images of my dining room below.

These 3D panels work like a wonder and give a rich background to the centrepieces I keep on my dining table. Panels are so dramatic that I don't need any artwork, wall shelf or any other accessories to accentuate the wall.

Foyer Makeover On A Budget

The foyer is the first place that guests see when they enter into a home. It is the first place that creates a lasting impression so it should be warm and welcoming. It should be a place with personality and functionality. That's what I did in recent foyer makeover project. Check out the video below to see all the steps involved in this makeover.

Here is a before and after picture for you all. Though I liked the previous look too but there was no light and nothing no space to toss the keys and other stuff. Also, I got bored of the same look hence this makeover!! Let me tell you this foyer makeover didn't burn a hole in my pocket but the look and feel of entryway have changed entirely.

Foyer Makeover On Budget

When I undertake any makeover project first I pay attention to the functionality of the space and then lighting and accessorizing. In this particular makeover, I changed the paint on the wall, Instead of artwork or mirror, I created clay work that is kind of permanent (until I decide to do makeover again) and to put some random stuff and decor accents I installed a beautifully carved wooden wall shelf.
The total cost of this makeover is given in above video with the cost breakdown and all the links to buy products that I used in this makeover.
Wall shelf can now serve as a center stage where I can display various decor accents and can change the look of this space effortlessly. Here are some more images to prove my point.

Foyer Makeover on budget

I chose glowing rust color for the wall. Bodhi tree or call it a tree of life has been created using air drying clay and tiny mirrors are serving as leaves. Turquoise Buddha bust pops beautifully against glowing rust wall and greens just add the cheer here.

I am happy with the end result and really looking forward to knowing what do you all feel about this makeover.
There will be a talented guest on 3D in my next blog so stay tuned!!

Easy Ways To Incorporate Copper In Home Decor

Metals have been part of home decor for a long time. There was a time when brass, bronze and copper dominated every corner of the home but as the civilisation developed and we made progress from bronze age to iron age all these metals were replaced by iron, steel and then aluminium and now in the modern age, plastic has invaded our households.

Copper Home Decor

I grew up in a home where brass and copper graced all the parts of the home, predominantly the kitchen. While brass can still be found in some households only as a decor piece. Copper despite having enormous useful properties is a completely forgotten metal now. In today's blog, I would like to draw your attention to the copper and wish to revive the lost charm of copper. We need to change our mindsets and should embrace this rosy gold metal in our day to day life for its goodness. Hence I am sharing some easiest ways to incorporate copper into home decor.

Copper Decor

In Indian culture, copper pots like kalash and aachmani have been used in temples and at home in ritualistic worship since ancient times because of the health benefits of this metal. But the shine of this metal from our lives is fading fast so before it is gone completely why not we all take the pledge that we will give copper its righteous place again.

Copper Decor

Let's start with the kitchen where copper can be introduced effortlessly. Copper kettles, mugs, pitcher and tumblers are making their way into kitchens again. Hammered copper is in rage and it not only looks attractive but also enhances the thermal conductivity of the metal which in turn makes the food or drink taste even better. Mule mug is the best example of it. There are enormous ways you can incorporate copper in a kitchen. In olden days kitchen shelves full of copper vessels and utensils was a common sight. Now only plastic, non-stick and steel can be seen ruling the kitchen. Switching back to copper can bring lots of health benefits too and you know what, it has a great resale value too.
Copper containers to store food can add sheen to the kitchen shelves. People around the globe are now aware of copper's undeniable contribution to human health and have started incorporating it into home decor. Copper sink, copper backsplash and even copper countertop are making come back and of course only to make the place look even brighter and gorgeous.

Copper Decor

In my family, we make sure that we use copper tumblers to drink water throughout the day to get our daily requirement of copper. Yes, copper is micronutrient and our body needs it to stimulate the immune system, for the formation of red blood cells, metabolism of cholesterol and glucose and is also required for proper growth and development.

Copper

A broken pot with copper bottom is now serving as a succulent planter in my home. Here's an idea for you to use any copper pot as a planter and this shiny metal will definitely pop against any background no matter dark or bright.

Copper Decor

I play around with this trendy copper planter and style it in various ways. Some days it sits pretty on the shelf and sometimes it enhances the beauty of my coffee table.

Copper Decor
Copper Decor

Well, we don't need a large antique piece of copper to make an eye pleasing arrangement when even a small and mundane copper object can bring a sense of class and elegance.
Another small copper pot called Aachmani, I like to use as a tealight holder sometime and the warmth and rosy glow added by copper is always so awe-inspiring. Sometimes I fill it with tiny wildflowers and sometimes it plays as a planter too. A single copper pot but I use it in many ways and every time it makes such a statement.

Copper Decor

Let's enter the living room and see how copper can do so much here to add pizzazz. Copper is a timeless metal. Any copper pot or hammered copper vase placed on the coffee table adds the vintage appeal without compromising the modern styling.

Copper Decor

Sometimes it is difficult for me to get the fresh flowers so fresh green leaves from my balcony garden make the vignette complete and did you notice how divine the copper and green combination is.

Copper Decor

Think out of the box and use framed art as a tray or a base to display copper arrangement. Pair it with some lit candles, it will add to the shine and elegance of copper. Copper is the only metal after gold that can bring so much elegance and drama to the decor.

Copper Decor

Another tip to incorporate copper into home decor is to place some glittery cushions in copper colour and witness the charm that it brings. Copper blends well with warm and cool colours so you don't need to worry about the cohesive look. Copper frames can be used to display artwork. It can create a focal point and can become quite a conversation starter piece.
Lights can bring the delicate yet noticeable change to the ambience of any place. Copper pendant lights are modish and all the rage if you wish to update the lighting in your home without going broke. Copper offers a sophisticated look to interiors.

Copper Decor

Now take a look at my home studio. A grass tray filled with a motley crew of my copper pots and paired them with a lit candle (pair made in heaven) makes quite a statement and such is the charm added by the metal that the whole place has come to life. I wouldn't mind working extra hours here.

Copper Decor

I have shown you some easy and doable ideas to decorate a home using very limited copper objects. A vessel can be a planter or an accent piece, a small pot can be a votive holder, vase or succulent planter, a copper bowl can be used as urli and a copper platter can hold your books or assortment of candles. Objects can be limited but imaginations and ideas are boundless.

Copper Decor

The whole idea of putting together this blog for y'all is to make this forgotten metal our friend again. I hope you all loved the idea of using copper more in our day to day life and say goodbye to harmful metals. If you also love copper and are already using it in your home decor then please share the picture with us. We would love to see!!

In my next blog, I'll be talking all about succulents and will show you my new DIY succulent planter. So stick around and stay creative!!

Indian Art Gallery Wall Reveal

I had been working on transforming one of the walls in my living room since last year and
it's time for the big REVEAL!!

Yes, it took me quite long to give a makeover to the focal wall in my living room and it's due to the fact that I have so many things to do and sometimes I find it really hard to manage everything single-handedly. Now coming to the wall decor, I have this focal wall in my living room that makes the first impression as one enters the home. So I decided to decorate it in a way that it reflects my love for my country India and its rich cultural heritage. I think I did justice to the wall and was able to bring out the true essence of India which is happy, warm, vibrant and inviting.
Before we go ahead and read the entire story, I request you to watch the video below that I shot especially for 3D readers and don't forget to like, comment, share and subscribe it will give me immense pleasure to connect with y'all there too. I am coming up with one more useful video quite soon :)

I hope you enjoyed watching the video. Now let's move on to the story of this transformation. First I will show you the before image of the same wall. It will give you an idea how my design sensibilities have improved and how my decorating style has evolved over the time and how a simple change in wall decor can make all the difference in overall look and feel of the space. Below is a before picture of the same wall.

Wall Decor

Here is a recent look and did I spend a fortune in decorating this wall. No, not at all!! I am a huge fan of DIYs and my eternal love for Indian art forms led me to paint all these exquisite folk paintings which cost me nothing and the only money I spent in decorating this wall was getting all the paintings framed which cost me around 1k bucks!! Yes, so I spent only 1k in giving a makeover to this wall. Pretty amazing, isn't it.

[My OCD is making me restless after realising that one of the frames in below image is a bit tilted and how I want to fix it]

Wall Decor

Here is one more old shot from a different angle.

Gallery Wall Ideas

And here is the recent one from the same angle as above. Yes, you noticed it right, I have given a makeover to my sofas also and it turned out pretty well too.

Wall Decorating Ideas

The color burst that these paintings have added to my living room give me the opportunity to play with colors and quite often I just pick few colors from the paintings and match them with the cushions for beautifully color coordinated and well-composed look of the room. Don't you agree!
