Wall Makeover On A Budget

Walls in my home are my blank canvases. Every now and then I just love to paint them in colors of my imagination. Like I said earlier, for me decorating isn't about how much money I spend to bring in class and elegance but it's more about how beautifully and effortlessly I am able to use my creativity, use what I already have and make my home reflect my personality.

When it comes to decorating, I just love to do everything myself that gives me immense satisfaction and joy that it brings is incomparable. So below is the video of my recent wall makeover project, please watch and let me know your views.

This wall was in a bad shape and desperately needed my attention. Bohemian and African decor was on my mind since long so I tried to mix both the styles and totally loved the outcome.
Below are some before and after images.

As you can see the wall makeover is doable and easy on the pocket too. All the rope baskets are handmade and bamboo basket and fan give such an authentic African flavour to the decor.
Bohemian decor is all about mixing and matching the colors, patterns and textures and that's what I love to do when it comes to home decor.

Also, I am totally in love with this DIY bamboo pendant lamp. The idea struck when I was doing the research on African Decor. I wasn't sure whether I would be able to find the right shape of lampshades or not but luckily I found exactly what I wanted.

10 Ways To Add Boho Style To Your Bedroom

Adding Boho style to your home is a great way to incorporate mismatched items, bright colors, unique and unusual furniture, and vintage home accessories.

Don't know where to start? How about with one room. Check out my suggestions below for 10 ways to add Boho style to your bedroom and once you get the hang of it, you'll soon be wanting to spread the Boho vibe all throughout your living space!

1o ways to add Boho style to your bedroom

1. Add a piece of brightly colored vintage furniture.

How to: Go to a thrift store. Find an old wooden chair, hope chest, bed headboard or dresser, and paint it a vibrant saturated color. I suggest a shade of turquoise, purple, lime green, or even red. This is an inexpensive way to add a completely unique and vibrant visual WOW to your room. Feeling extra creative? Add some decorative painted details to your piece. You don't have to be an artist to do this. Think creatively!

The chair below is the perfect example of a thrift shop item that would be perfect for this project. I bought this at a thrift store for $5. Now imagine it painted and with the chair pad replaced. The possibilities are endless! ...and the investment is under $20.

2. Add a sheer curtain, scarf curtain, or tapestry to a wall or window.

How to: Unless you're living in a dorm room, you may want to forgo the traditional wall tapestry. A more chic and grown up alternative? A sheer curtain. Create your own scarf curtain by collecting vintage scarves from thrift stores. Sew them together (hey, you could even pin them if you wanted).

3. Accessorize with a warm metallic decoration in either brass or bronze.

How to: Rustic bells or wind chimes are perfect, such as these shown below. Note the color pop from the turquoise door!

4. Add lots of plants. Lots. Especially hanging ones that trail.

How to: It's no surprise that greens look great among splashes of bright color. That's why flowers look great in a garden! Take advantage of sunny windows by adding a few hanging viney houseplants to bring a little bit of nature indoors.

How to: Display a collection of framed art or pictures grouped together on one wall - the more variety the better. Some ideas: flea market finds, vintage paint by numbers, upcycled thrift store paintings.

6. Add a macrame curtain or wall hanging.

How to: Don't have an available window for a curtain? Hang a macrame wall hanging on any wall. Create your own version with thrift store finds.

7. Create a mix of lush fabrics.

How to: Touches of velvet, satin, and other rich fabrics don't have to break the bank. You can use them sparingly (and again, scour those thrift stores!) These rich fabrics look even more luxurious in saturated jewel colors or warm tones.

8. Display your books in a creative way.

How to: Forgo the traditional bookcase and instead, why not figure out a creative way to showcase your favorite books. Vintage wood crates, old drawers (like the one in the photo below) offer unexpected storage with easy style.

9. Cushy floor pillows.

How to: Big cushy floor pillows are great for adding interest to any room, and are great as a place to meditate. There are lots of great versions available online, or craft your own.

10. Walls with color

How to: Forgo ordinary white walls and add some life to your room with brightly colored paint. Don't be afraid of color! If you don't like it you can always repaint it.

To recap, here are some things you can do to add great Boho style to your bedroom:

Consider:
 - Piece of furniture that is colorful and bright
 - Something in a warm brass or bronze finish
 - Macrame or other unique textile wall decor
 - Unique book storage
 - Cushy pillows and/or floor pillows
 - Trailing green plants
 - A unique gallery wall display
 - Scarf curtains or tapestries
 - Don't be afraid of color!

New Design In My Society6 Shop - Bohemian Spirit Mandalas on Aubergine

Yay! I love how this design turned out! Hi friends! I wanted to take a minute to share the latest design that I uploaded to my Society6 shop this morning. It's a pen and ink drawing of three mandalas entitled Spirit Mandalas, and it looks especially pretty on the pillows.

The background is a deep aubergine, like the deep purple-plum color of an eggplant, and I think it's a really elegant combination when paired with the ivory colored artwork. This design is perfect for Boho decor lovers!

Here are just a few examples of this new design on a few different products. All are available in my Society6 shop so be sure to check them out!

Banish Winter Blues (& Whites!) With Colorful Bohemian Brights!

Who says winter has to be a whiteout?

Why not give your winter decor a bold burst of fun color that will not only brighten
your living environment, but will brighten your spirits too? We already know that the
seasons can directly affect our moods and emotions. Lots of folks complain of winter
blues and seasonal affective disorder (aka SAD or winter depression) during the winter
months. Believe it or not, some folks suggest that part of the cause of these winter
blues is due to the decrease in daylight from the winter days being shorter. I think
I have to agree with that! I anxiously await summer.

Whether you prefer to go for bold brights or rich jewel tones, I believe that adding
pops of unexpected color - especially if they contain unique patterns and luxurious textures - can help turn your mood around. Check it out!

Beautiful Bohemian Floors: Painted, Stenciled, & Decoupaged

I've always loved the look of painted wood floors. I think I like them so much because when you happen upon one, it's unexpected, and personal.

Often created by the homeowner themselves, it's an artistic expression that is a demonstration of their love for their home. This love for home, intermingled with their own artistic creativity creates a certain type of magic that impresses me every time.

Check out these amazing examples of unique artistic Bohemian floors and I think you'll agree that whether it be hardwood floor or concrete, freehand painted, stenciled or decoupaged, these floors have a unique and special beauty that is unlike any other.
