FASHION

Hot damn we made it to Friday!  I for one am giddy with that fact:)

I finally got it together to do a small fashion post....well it's nothing earth shattering..... but spring and summer are just around the corner and there are some things that I find myself buying over and over.

What that means is.....at my age I have narrowed it down to a color palate that allows me not to spend too much on clothes.

No secret there right?  Neutrals sprinkled with some black and white.

You have heard me preach about this before so hang with me for a minute.  Jeans.....black, white and blue.  My staples for everyday wear.  What's better than going to the Gap and loading up on these to get me through the next few seasons.

I bought these cute ankle flare jeans and I plan on cutting the hem off for a more casual look!  Since they are cheap it's no big deal when I'm tired of them:)

I also bought the sleeveless T in every color.  I'll be happy when it's 90 degrees here in Georgia!

White jeans are pretty much what I wear almost everyday in the summer.  I can dress them up or go more casual.  If you don't have a denim shirt you need to get one because they are great for layering.

Look at me getting all bossy.

The white section in my closet is the largest!

Surprise huh!

Every year I go through my t shirts and discard any that have spots on them and just replace with new ones.  And I definitely need that cute black and white bag right!

So you are now thinking that I am a pretty cheap shopper but we are forgetting one small detail.....

SHOES!  Yeah.....something you can always buy when you don't feel like trying on clothes!

I have all of these below....

All from Nordstroms.

I love these with anything!

I just bought these and they are definitely on heavy rotation!

I bought these [on sale] and from day one they are so incredibly comfortable.  I wish they still had the black in my size.

I have all of these also:)
From Nordstroms.

I just recently bought these to add a little fun to my wardrobe.....I don't often wear heels but loving that block heels are in style.

I have these from last year and now they come in suede.

I bought these because I have always loved the classic feel of a loafer and this modern version will look great when I want to be just a little more professional!

These are in my cart right now!
From Nordstroms.

I'm thinking these would look good with white jeans....not as harsh and black.

These just look incredible comfy and when the temps get really hot in Atlanta I'll need some openness!

How cute!  I think we all need a little blush in our life!

If I pretty much wear all of these why are there so many shoes in my closet?  Every time I start to weed them all out I get  nervous like I can't just have 9 pairs of shoes.....what kind of girl would I be?

So Sunday is my birthday.  Apparently middle age is from 45-65 and I guess 66 is "old age".....WTF.

Crikey I am not happy about this at all. I'm not gonna lie or sugarcoat it.....getting old sucks.

There I said it.

You might be wondering where I've been......and the answer to that would be Highpoint Furniture Market!

I had a blog post all ready for Friday but as with life..... things don't always go as planned.  My friend Jennifer and I were staying at the dump [Days Inn] as I so lovingly referred to it and early Friday morning when I was bringing coffee back to the room I opened the door to the sound of sobbing.

She had just heard the news that her father had passed away un-expectantly and Lord knows you are never prepared for that news right?

To make a long story short she rented a car and drove back to Atlanta.  My heart goes out to her.

THEN.....I found out that a few friends of mine were staying 1 and 1/2 hours away from Highpoint having to make that drive every day so I offered them my room and went over to the Country Suites to stay with my friends Lori and Amanda on their pull out sofa.  Life sure can pull a fast one on you when you least expect it.

3 girls with one bathroom....like college:)

I took this picture so you could see that I practice what I preach about wearing mostly black and white.....I'm pretty predictable!

Which side are my clothes on?
Ha Ha

My post was actually a fashion one....5 different ways to wear black jeans.

When you travel on a short trip it's so nice to be able to pack a small bag.  I have learned that as much as I want to take everything with me.....sticking to the basics makes it easier right?

I bought the leather jacket on a 40% off plus 10% off sale.  It's lightweight so I can wear a sleeveless shirt under and not sweat to death.  Just FYI.... I hardly EVER buy anything at BR, J Crew or AnnTaylor unless it is on sale.

I love my Puma's...should have worn them everyday!

Here is a nice way to dress up black jeans for an evening out....

I like the shoes because they have a lower heel height!

I also bought these shoes and they are extrememly comfortable.....

I ordered these boots when they were on sale at Nordstroms....

I have these Fry boots and they are 4 years old.....have had the heels done twice but seriously they look new!

I'm a big fat pig now after eating candy in every showroom so I am going to try and workout every day the rest of the week before all that fat finds a home someplace ugly like my back.

It's nice to be back in my own bed:)

Call me scrooge.  I did not get the hype about the Eclipse.  I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade or anything but I feel like the media tried to turn it into the second coming or something.....

Maybe it was a good diversion from everything that is going on in our country today.....and I certainly applaud all of you raising children in this world....it's gotta be tough.

OK......enough seriousness from me.  I've got some fashion for you today.

Y'all wanted to know the details on what I wore to speak on my panel.

Nothing special.  The top was Eileen Fisher linen bought on "serious sale".  The jeans were AG my favorite fit.  The shoes...[Franco Sarto] well I couldn't find them anywhere in that color now.

Remember I blogged about them here and lawd they are extremely comfy.

This whole post started with these shoes from Banana Republic at 40% off plus if you use your card an extra 10%.

I was pretty excited when I saw them and then she came out and said she didn't have my size.  Mini meltdown.  What?  Pull it together Sherika.

So we started looking online and I asked her to bring me another color for fit.

She went back and 5 minutes later came out with them in my size!!!  I was so excited I hugged her which I am sure was an invasion of her personal space.

As I was walking around the store clutching them close I got excited about what I would wear with them.

I tried on these jeans....so cute.... high waisted and vintage [no stretch!] plus fringe hem.

Done.  In line to pay.

Then I headed up to Ann Taylor because they were also doing 40% off.

I added another white top to my lineup.....cause Lord knows I need that :)

Then I was on a role....I am always looking for cute orthopedic comfortable shoes and these Vans fit the bill!  And the pink raincoat....yes!

Gingham is on point in design and fashion!  How cute is this number below from J Crew Facotry?

I pretty much wear white jeans every day in the summer.....and the good thing is they are easy to dress up or down.  I also have these sunglasses and they are my favorite.

Of course now I want these shoes:)  They definitely fit the bill of "cute and comfortable" agree?

It's that time of the year when we want to start wearing fall with September being only 9 days away..... but it is going to be in the 90's today so that is not happening.

Hopefully with a few tweaks in your wardrobe you can still look cute until the cooler weather arrives!

MORE SUMMER FASHION

It's that time of year when EVERYTHING is on sale and I  don't know about you but being able to shop on the computer is like a gift:)

I used to like to go to the mall but lately I just don't have the time.

I've bought a few things and one of them is this simple black dress from Loft.  It's stretchy and just loose enough that you don't have to walk around holding in your stomach:)  I think it was around $50.00

It's not too short because now my knees have somehow slipped down around my shins.....next stop.....ankles.

I did make the trip to the mall the other day to help my sister out with a few vacation outfits!
I bullied talked  her into buying these pants from Ann Taylor.  At first she said no but I threatened to leave and go home.

She got them.....

Bag  I bought this for 1/2 off the sale price!!!

Bought these jeans at AT and not sure how I feel about them yet.....this whole post started with trying to  put an outfit together for them!

I also saw this cute black dress while I was there....I love the pockets!

I ordered the shell collar from Twig and Twine when they recently had a sale!  I had been waiting because these aren't cheap....but definitely a statement piece!
I did see the skirt at BR and it's "a lot of skirt"......definitely need to be tall to wear it!

I have an afternoon wedding in July and I sure do wish I could wear pants!  See reference to knees....

Top
Sunglasses
Earrings
Bag
Pants
Shoes  I might need these cuties!

Before I buy anything I need to purge my closet....and that is an activity I can definitely put off for something that is more important like plucking chin hairs.

WHAT!!!  Saturday is July 1st?  That can't be.

SUMMER FASHION

The weather is changing and I have cute summer clothes on my mind.  I might have said this before but spring only last a hot minute here in Atlanta.

One second we are wearing long sleeves and the next we are sweating.......taking scissors to those sleeves.

I have purchased a few things lately and I discovered a new brand of jeans that rocked my world!  You are probably wondering how that may be but I have a small waist and a rather generous behind so when I find good fitting jeans I want to spread the world:)

While we were in High Point my roomie Jennifer was styling the cutest clothes and I realized I might need to step up my game from all black [actually all of my team was styling].  A little color never hurt anybody so I went out and bought this top! Whoa....so edgy with blue....ha ha

Jeans  Love this fit!  I got mine 25% off!

I always like to start with a white blouse and a good pair of jeans....then I can dress it up accordingly.

Clutch  I just discover this little store....bargains!

I NEED some pink sneakers in my life!  Plus I like that they are "double decker" for some height!

I'm not really a dress person because to be honest....my legs are so white [OK...wrinkled too] but I do like this one because of the cute sleeves....and it's black:)

OK...let's be honest.....I could not wear these shorts [mine would have to be longer] but this cute top from J Crew Factory is a winner.

I did buy this top [on sale now!] and wore it the other night.....I love it and so comfy!  I also bought the shoes and comfortable from the first minute!

Shoes  Love!

This cute top from J Crew Factory was 26.50....steal huh!

More comfy shoes.....and the color goes with everything.  I like the slip on style because of the ventilation...my feet get sweaty in the summer:)

What have y'all bought lately?  I always have a hard time drawing the line about what is appropriate for someone my age [old] to wear......I want to be comfortable but not look like I am wearing my pajamas out in public.

I am sure that day will come:)  If you see me doing that I give you permission to point and laugh.

FASHION

Yep....another fashion post in honor of "spring is here" .....well in Atlanta anyway:)

But before we get all giddy with putting outfits together I have to tell you this.  The other day at Orange Theory I noticed a good looking guy walk in and thought "he looks familar.....but it can't be"...."can it?"

Josh Duhamel

It was.  Apparently he had been there before because he was all smily with everyone.  But listen up.....we were on the rowers [hate] and I was on one separated about 6 feet away from him.

At the end of one particularly grueling row we were all supposed to turn to our neighbor and high five.  Since no one was near me I opted out of that little ritual.

But...I look up to see JD looking me in the eye with his hand up.  In a split second I tossed around the idea of getting up to make hand contact.

But the scene in my head of trying to hurriedly get out of the straps....probably getting one foot out and not the other.... which meant I would fall forward flat out hitting the floor with a loud thud [all eyes on me]..... but able to raise my hand from the floor to make that high five..... only then to find that the next all out row had already begun and JD was moving on.....kept me glued to my seat with a meek "air high five".

I don't really do well around celebrities.

#starstruck

What started this post was white shirts.  I was on a hunt for the perfect few that would be able to host any event thrown.

As I have said before....I am a simple gal when it comes to fashion.

Here are a few outfits that work......on paper anyway:)

I tried on those shoes and they were very comfortable.  Raise your hand if you are happy block heels are back!
